Allianz Ins. B2C & B2B platform

The program consisted of two products, a B2C platform and a B2B tablet application.

The B2C was a self-care area for end customers to log in and see their insurance contracts, perform payments, download documents and manage their ebill service.

The B2B platform was a tablet app for insurance agents to use on the go. There, they would be able to see customer personal data, contract details [status, duration, payments made], and statistics about their customers, their contracts, and performance indicators. The program was funded by the CFO of Allianz, thus it had a high visibility.

As a Program Leader, I lead the 2 teams running the products. Each one consisted of a project manager, 2-3 engineers and a UI/UX as a shared resource. The main challenges in this program were two.

The first one was technical. It had to do with the integration with the core systems of Allianz which were very old and the offered data schema was very basic with no business modelling. This meant that we had to implement the business logic in the channels. We chose a different approach, by which we acted also as technical consultants within Allianz and assisted them in designing and building an internal middleware, to hide some of the business logic from the channels.

The second was a managerial one. The internal teams were not experienced in projects of high importance and in communicating with high-level executives. I acted as a mentor, exposing them gradually to higher-level discussions by taking them with me to client meetings, especially steering committees with the CFO, and in parallel offering them advice and guidance on a project basis by giving them the space to make decisions on their own regarding implementations and timelines.

This helped them grow professionally and gain confidence.
