Aegean Airlines Corporate Portal & Booking Platform

A digital eCommerce platform for IKEA Greece clients to accommodate the ordering flows for the vast number of categories and products of IKEA inventory.

 

As a software engineer, I was part of a team of three engineers and a UI/UX designer.

 

The major challenges for this project were the great number of SKUs that should be displayed in several different views (lists, categories pages, inner pages, cart, basket), the combinations between them, their different attributes (colour, size) and the ability to filter effectively in a responsive and performant UI.

 

Moreover, regarding stock and prices an integration with a Dutch company which exposed the APIs had to be implemented, which raised the complexity of the project due to technical misalignments.

As a resolution, we relocated ourselves to the client’s premises to accommodate customer needs regarding user experience and we also requested an engineer from the company exposing the integration points to join us for a certain period of time, in order to resolve all technical issues.

 

The result was a highly performant and reliable eCommerce portal even with today’s standards.
